U8 Rules

U8 Rules
  • 11" Hard ball to be used. A coin toss will determine the home team and dugouts (except eliminations and championship games. Higher seed will have choice)
  • Cage helmets must be worn by all players.
  • Coaches Pitch from the Rubber. Coach pitching is not allowed to coach his team during play.
  • 10 players in the field with 4 outfielders (LF, LC, RC, RF). One player, as the defensive pitcher will be placed to the right or left of the pitcher (coach) with at least one foot in the 8ft radius of the mound. One player as catcher & the others in regular defensive positions. 1st base, 2nd base, shortstop, 3rd base. The outfielders must start the play on the grass
  • There will be 1 Umpire used to make all calls.
  • No bunting, no slap bunting (fake then swing away or slap), no stealing, no infield fly, no dropped third strike
  • Base runners cannot leave the base until ball is hit.
  • Play is stopped on a batted ball once any defensive player has control of ball inside the pitchers circle.
  • Players less than half way to the next base will be required to return to the previous base. Once the ball is in the pitchers circle the play will be considered dead, therefore no play is to be made on the runners.
  • Batters/Runners may attempt to get as many bases as possible on hits to the outfield.
  • A player can advance on an overthrow. However a player is liable to be put out while attempting to take an extra base unless the ball has been ruled out of play or the play has been considered dead by the umpire. If the ball has been ruled out of play a player may only advance 1 base.
  • Each batter will be given a maximum of 5 pitches to try to hit the ball into play. No balls or strikes will be called. If the ball has not been hit into play after 5 pitches the batter is out. If the batter fouls the 5th pitch, they will receive another pitch & will continue as long as they continue to foul the pitch. Three strikes and you are out. A caught foul tip is handled as a strike unless it is hit above the batters head and caught; it is then considered an out. The catcher must be in a true catcher's position behind home plate before the pitcher pitches the ball.
  • Teams will be required to bat the entire roster. Innings are complete with 3 outs or a maximum of 5 runs.
  • The last inning will be a 10 run limit
  • Mercy rule will be 12 runs after 4 innings.
  • No other coaches other than the coach who is pitching will be allowed on the field. No defensive coaches will be allowed on the playing field.
  • Catcher will return ball to pitcher, Catcher must wear full gear. Catcher must start in a true catcher's position.
  • Games will be 6 innings . Drop dead will be 1 hr 20 Minutes.
  • Any manager, coach or player who causes him or herself to be ejected from any game will also sit out the next played game.
  • Any rule not covered above will be strictly book rule (ASA). Any rule covered above will override book rule.
  • Championship Game - No Time Limit

U10 Rules:

  • A coin toss will determine the home team and dugouts (except eliminations and championship games. Higher seed will have choice)
  • All players must have a uniform number on the back of their shirt for identification purposes. Cage helmets must be worn by all players.
  • Game ball will be supplied (11") however scorebooks will have to be supplied by each team
  • Home team has the official book.
  • Game Line-ups will consist of 10 players in the field. The coach must bat the roster. No drop 3rd strike, no in-field fly rule.
  • Unlimited stealing of home plate. Stealing upon release.
  • 6 innings will be played. No new inning will start after 1 hour and 20 minutes and you will finish the inning. In the event of a tie score after 6 innings and there is still time left on the clock ITB rules will go into effect. A game may end in a tie in seeding play on Friday and Saturday.
  • A courtesy runner may be inserted for the pitcher and catcher at any point. The courtesy runner will be the last recorded out. A courtesy runner must be inserted for the catcher with 2 outs.
  • A runner is required to slide or veer at all bases to avoid collisions on close plays. The Pitcher must start and deliver the ball with both feet in contact with the pitching plate.
  • Championship Game – no time limit. In the event of a tie after 6 innings, ITB will go into effect. ITB will be played until a winner is declared.
  • Last declared inning by the umpire will be unlimited.
  • Any manager, coach or player who causes him or herself to be ejected from any game will also sit out the next played game. Any fan that is thrown out will not be allowed back without the approval of the tournament committee.
  • Any rule not covered above will be strictly book rule (PONY). Any rule covered above will override book rule.
  • Mercy rule will go into effect under the following circumstances:

15 runs after 4 innings.

12 runs after 5 innings

  • A coin toss will determine the home team and dugouts (except eliminations and championship games. Higher seed will have choice)
  • All players must have a uniform number on the back of their shirt for identification purposes. Cage helmets must be worn by all players.
  • Game ball will be supplied (12") however scorebooks will have to be supplied by each team
  • Home team has the official book.
  • Game Line-ups will consist of batting your entire lineup. That will allow you to have free substitution. In case of injury, her spot will be skipped in the lineup.
  • 7 innings will be played. No new inning will start after 1 hour and 20 minutes and you will finish the inning. As soon as the ground rules are done, the clock will be started by the umpire. Time permitting, the international Tiebreaker rule will go into effect. In bracket play you have to play to a winner.
  • A courtesy runner may be inserted for the pitcher or catcher at any time. The courtesy runner will be the last recorded out. A courtesy runner must be inserted for the catcher with 2 outs.
  • If a fielder has the ball in her possession and is waiting to tag a runner, that runner must slide or veer.
  • Championship Game – no time limit. In the event of a tie after 7 innings, ITB rules in effect until a winner is determined.
  • Any manager, coach or player who causes him or herself to be ejected from any game will also sit out the next played game.
  • Last declared inning by the umpire will be unlimited runs.
  • There is a five run limit per inning. Mercy rule will be in effect under the following circumstances:

12 runs after 3 completed innings

10 runs after 4 completed innings

8 runs after 5 completed innings.
